Description
This whole grain spelt flour is ground in Mulino Sobrino's traditional natural stone mill.
Whole grain flours contain all the components of the grain, including the valuable germ and bran (the outer layer of the grain). Thus, they are particularly rich in fibre, minerals and vitamins.
Spelt is one of the oldest types of grain and contains more valuable ingredients than wheat. It is rich in protein, magnesium and iron and contains B vitamins as well as silica. Hildegard von Bingen praised the good properties and versatility of spelt and spelt flour as early as the Middle Ages.
The fine, nutty taste of wholemeal spelt flour goes perfectly any types of baked goods like bread, pastries, cookies and cakes.
Note: You can substitute wheat flour 1: 1 with spelt flour. Note, however, that whole grain flour needs approx. 10-15% more liquid to swell.
