Description
The tropical climate directly on the Gulf of Thailand has heavy, mineral-rich soils that form the basis for excellent growing conditions for Kampot pepper. The hand-harvested, ripe red peppercorns are sun-dried after a few days in a water bath, then carefully sorted out by hand.
The Kampot pepper is a climbing plant from the Piperaceae family and is grown on wooden poles. It grows to a height of up to 5 m. There are no artificial fertilizers or pesticides used on the plants and they are grown using traditional methods. They are hand-watered, which is a lot of work in the dry season.
The ripe pepper has a spicy, fresh, nutty flavour that tastes great with your meals.
